Email programs

Very soon, I'm going to be bombarded with email galore. They will be coming in via 4 or 5 addresses (all from the same ISP). Some will have very large attachments (pages and pages of PDF exhibits).

I'm going to need a decent way to manage all of this crap, and save good chunks of it from time to time.

Although I'm not computer illiterate, when it comes to email and dealing with the volumes of it that many of you are used to, I'm an idiot. Outlook with 1 incoming box is about it for me.

So, what do you recommend, and why?

Thanks!

Why not stick with Outlook? Set up some rules to put different things in different boxes, for example set up a mailbox for each of the addresses, and use the rules wizzard to set up rules to put mail for [email protected] in one box, [email protected] in another box, [email protected] forwarded to the guy at cordelli.net, etc.

Outlook Express can even handle what you are looking for, and it's more intutive (in my mind) then outlook is.

Pegasus Mail

Have used nothing else for 10 years although have tried most of the others on occasion. I keep coming back to Pegasus for its power and flexibility.

I've used Eudora since its first version. Outstanding and highly recommended (I have multiple boxes all drawing from my own domain).

You can download the free version (which is the same as the paid version with some function limits and with ads), then buy it if you like it to get rid of the ads and the limitations.

Or you can simply use Mozilla mail (former Netscape mail) which nicely handles as many mail accounts as you like, good spamfilter and all the other features you want. All in a free, addfree package. And to top it off it doesn't have barn-sized securityholes like Outlook/Outlook Express does. If you do not want to the full package that includes a Browser you can download the pure mailclient as well (Thunderbird).

Well, their browser is awesome, but the email client SUCKS.

Thunderbird is my client of choice. It's a **** sight better than that Crapware that Micro$haft likes to call "Outlook".

I prefer online (i.e. not on your computer) solutions, for instance Runbox Mail Manager:

Great for huge attachments etc
