Napster 2.0

Just used it... Seems like a HECK of a lot more tracks than Itunes.

Roxio built in burning is OK, track downloads are quick.

Bought 2 albums right now and burned them...

Seems pretty nice so far.

I'm a windows based person and have been playing with all four big services (Napster, Rhapsody, iTunes, and BuyMusic.com).

For streaming, I like Rhapsody the best. The interface is a bit more user friendly than the others. You can't copy your tracks to a portable though. This is where you could use BuyMusic, and buy the tracks you'd want to copy to your portable device. Hopefully Rhapsody is working on adding a download to portable feature.

itunes is decent, but without an iPod, I don't see a reason for using it.

Overall, Napster gets in the nod as the best in my book right now. Streaming is good, the UI needs a bit more tweaking, but the killer is the ability to copy downloaded tracks to your wma friendly portable.

Since both Napster and Rhapsody are only $9.95/month, I'll think I'll keep subscribing to both for the time being.

But if Rhapsody doesn't get moving on the portable front, I think Napster is going to win my bidness...

I don't like the idea of any of these services much because I can't do what I want with my music.

Once I figure out how to rip CDs with my external USB 2 HP 300e DVD burner, I will rip my collection and buy more. It is fair use as I don't swap music or give it away outside the family. With these music services, I'm on their leash and I don't really like that idea much http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/frown.gif

Napster 2.0 DOES NOT prevent you from burning tracks with NO limit as long as you don't burn them in the same playlist over and over (at some point it assumes you are burning CD's for other than personal use and halts)... to resolve this, make a new playlist with some track changes and it will allow you to continue burning.
