SonyEricsson in LON?
I have a T610 with ancient R1A firmware (and worse, it's been "customised" by Vodafone with fugly icons). There is noplace in Spain to get this updated but it seems like I should be able to find a place while I am in London this weekend.
Can anyone make a recommendation for a shop? I am staying in the Hilton Kensington. ------------------ -alan in sitges, home of Si-Do |
Being a SE phone owner (T28W, T39, T68i, and T68ie) myself, I try to keep an eye on the news on SE products and for firmware upgrades, I've read that some of the Car Phone Warehouse locations in London (such as the one at Chapel Street and John Lewis) do perform firwmware upgrades.
You might want to give them a call and see which of their retail locations will perform firmware upgrades on the spot. Regards, David |
Carphone warehouse only does upgrades in it's flagship store on Oxford street (next to Selfridges). However, last times I was there they had a 1 week wait for firmware updates... http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/frown.gif Perhaps some of the other larger stores like the one on Tottenham court road can perform the upgrade as I know several of their stores used to have an SE service desk...

There's a big Vodafone store on Oxford Street. You can drop your phone in for upgrades - you may want to make up an excuse or two, e.g., phone crashes for no reasons. Their default fix is to upgrade the software.
Bring your warranty papers in case they ask. I don't know how they feel about overseas phones, but given it's Vodafone, it won't hurt to try. They can do it in an hour. |
