Video Editing Software
 

I have my digital camcorder attached to my computer via FireWire.

My only problem is that I am using an ancient piece of Video Editing software, VideoWave II, they are all the way up to 5 now http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/eek.gif!

Should I upgrade, or buy something else?

Try the Microsoft movie maker II, which is free with XP. Just download it from Microsoft...

I am running Win2K.

And I want to be able to capture some pictures that I took with it.

I believe you should be able to try out video editing software. So try to download some software and see if they fit your needs.

Sonic Foundry's Vegas Video is the midlevel industry standard. It is far superior to Pinnacle. Current version is close to $300. Make certain you do not get the academic version unless you can qualify.

Just curious: Why do you say this? Do they have some kind of enforcement or verification system in place?

Yes. On some of the softwares, once you get them, you can install them. On VV, I have been told you have to call the company, fax them your ID, and they issue a code to start the software.

With all due respect, I think the industry standard is an Avid system or Final Cut Pro running on a Power Macintosh G5. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif
