Ericsson R380w
I've seen brand new unlocked R380w's being auctioned for between $65-75.
How is the reception and battery life on this phone? I pretty much only plan on using it for talking (when in US & Europe) and the PDA; no real need for the WAP. The listing is somewhat confusing as it states the phone is "Dual band 900/1900 and e-GSM" in one paragraph, then near the bottom it says it's "Dual band 900/1800/1900 and e-GSM." Is it dual-band or tri-band? And what is e-GSM? Thanks in advance. [This message has been edited by pseudoswede (edited 05-16-2003).] |
Here's a review from back in 2000:
http://www.geek.com/hwswrev/pda/ericr380/ Can you imagine this phone originally sold for $875? ------------------ Michael Steinberg Editor BizTrip www.biztrip.com A site for travelers by a traveler with 20+ years experience Please visit my site and let me know what you think. |
I paid over $1400 when it was first released, flew from AMS to LHR to pick it up http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...um/biggrin.gif
Battery life is actualy pretty good, reception is excellent as it has Ericssons excellent antennae. It's pretty big and operation is rather slow... The keypad isn't very responsive and the speakerphone option is quite uesless. It does WAP, email etc... though doesn't do GPRS. If all you want is a cheap and decent phone with good RF try the Ericsson R520: http://www.expansys.us/product.asp?code=ERIC-R520M IMHO one of the best phones EVER, every possible feature from tri-band to a proximity-sensor operated speakerphone, this phone has it ALL. The R380 is GSM 900/1800 The R380w is GSM 900/1900 For europe I'd advise getting a TRI band phone (900/1800/1900). |
