What's up with Blackberry?
Was surprised, and slightly concerned, to see this . . .

Heard from friends in Ontario that there are lots of layoffs at RIM (Blackberry's company).

Serves them right, Blackberry has been out to sue everyone they could for making products that "looked" like theirs, they even went as far as sueing Handspring for making a PDA with a small keyboard, just because the blackberry also has a keyboard, they then tried to sue everyone that makes syncing PDA's...
Now it's their turn, and it turns out that the most important part of their product was "stolen"... All these lawsuits are totally crazy!
Slightly off topic, but I will say: having used both the Blackberry and Good systems, Good was infinitely better. You can run their software on the RIM device, but they just came out with their G-100 handheld which seems a bit "cuter". http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/smile.gif |
Well, I love my little fruit (Blackberry). They sure better not go anywhere. Although I'm disappointed that they may be switching bands on some of the newer fruits. I wonder (expect) that this will affect it's ability to receive/send signals at 35,000 feet, unlike my current one's great ability to do virtually across the entire country. (any potential "don't use cellphone type technology while in flight" comments aren't needed http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif)
Edited to add (after I read the article) about congress. A certain US Senator was busily using thier Blackberry on my flight this morning (albiet obeying all rules and I didn't see it used after takeoff). But it was interesting to see thier use of it for confidential data - they said (on a cell phone convo) that they didn't want to speak it out loud, but would blackberry the message.
