Dial-Up in Paris
 

Anyone know of a good dial-up provider in Paris? I just need a local phone call to check e-mail on my Visor -- maybe a 10-hour account or something like that.

Compuserve 2000 (and probably AOL) has a dialup in Paris. It might be worth a short term membership. The number is surcharges at $4/hour.

If you have a regular Classic Compuserve account; they have a regular dialup that is not surcharged.

Anybody know if any free Dialup places within Paris? By free dialup places, I'm not talking Internet cafes, but rather just dialup numbers. Thanks!

Do you mean toll-free or subscription free?

Wannadoo offers free subscriptions but through a non toll-free number, I think your best bet is to use AOL, Compuserve, ATT Global or iPass.

I assume the AOL number is basically like going local, correct? So you'd pay whatever the local rate is for the hotel, etc..?

Yes. Fortunately, I think our hotel had a flat rate for local calls.

It's really AOL underneath (sort of a trimmed down AOL Jr.) and uses the exact same access numbers (both domestic U.S. and International) as AOL does.

Best part is you can get the first month basically free (Trial Offer...give credit card but don't forget to cancel service before the end of the trial or you will be billed). You only pay for the standard International Access Surcharge:
