Airplane Wire Plugin

Can anyone tell me what this plug in outlet is by the display monitor on the back of seats? I know the typical audio plug-in is on the armrest but is this for something else? Thanks!

It'a an old Panasonic connector that was designed to allow you to connect your own device, using the seatback screen as an external monitor for playing videos, etc. It never was very succesful:

Yep I think I saw one of those on a Continental J seat many years ago which they told me I could use to connect my ‘iphone’ to the seatback screen.
