Does a Bluetooth Headset with a Jack Exist?
 

When flying, I usually use a Bluetooth headset to listen to videos on my tablet.

I would like to listen to the in-flight entertainment sometimes as well.

Is there such a thing as a Bluetooth headset that also has a jack input, that can be used for Bluetooth or plugging into an audio source?

Yes, I know there are devices that allow you to use a Bluetooth headset with a plug in jack, but that's an extra device and complication.

Does such a thing exist?

the Bose QC35, QC45, and QC Ultra all have a jack. possibly other Bose models too.

So do the Sony Wh-1000s

Do you mean headphones (i.e. with a band and over-/on-ear cups), or earphones/earbuds? Or perhaps an office headset, with a mic?

Most all bluetooth headphones will have a 3.5mm jack for wired usage, perhaps a 2.5mm one like the new Bose QC Ultras (even the Apple AP Max has a Lightning-to-3.5mm cord, likely USB-C to 3.5mm soon). There may be outliers, but I cannot think of one of the top of my head.

For earphones/earbuds… I think you’re stuck with trying to go with an Airfly or similar.

For office headsets… check out the Evolve lineup from Jabra: they are headset/headphone hybrids, IIRC, tho the price is steep.

Looking for earphones/airbuds. They take up practically zero space.

Pure earbuds are probably quite unlikely - they are just too small, and if only one earbud is plugged in, that one must transmit to the other.
(Most don’t even have a power port built in, rely on the case to help with charging.)

Partially wired earphones / those with a neck-band are is easier to implement (though I don’t think there are too many even in this category), such as this one from Sony:

I didn't know what AirFly is when crackjack mentioned it above, so I looked it up. It seems like if it works, it would be the better option although it does add weight and another device that needs charging. But with the BT transmitter, it would work with any BT earbuds and you don't have to be stuck with 1 or 2 options when you probably don't even like the sound or the brand. Personally, I have 1 pair of cheap plug in earbuds (given free by airlines) in my travel backpack all the time. They take up no space and weight nothing at all and does the job when watching TV or movies in flight. The hardest part is to untangle the cord because it was rolled up in a ball in a hurry from last use.

This is my approach as well, but I have some fairly nice wired earbuds which are somewhat isolating. Airpods Pro for wireless (and fairly ok NC) , wired buds for the plane AV (and as a backup). Takes almost no space and weighs next to nothing.

I have airpods pro (the big over ear ones) and supposedly you can connect w/ a wire. I opted for the airfly option, though, since sometimes i'll fly with the earbuds on shorter flights.

Airfly the way to go. There are no Bluetooth headsets that have a permanently attached cord. That defeats the purpose of a Bluetooth headset.

Another alternative is to use a non-BT corded set with a BT receiver for the phone/tablet.

Both are expensive, though. The QuietComfort 20 was discontinued.

That Voyager 60+ is interesting, taking a different approach to a solution: if I understand correctly, it essentially turns the charging unit into an Airfly, rather than turning the earbuds into wired units? I guess it would require the earbuds to have some charge remaining.

Agree on wired headphones as backup being a decent option. I keep a set of free earbuds in my travel bag in case I want to charge my over-ear headphones.
