Microsoft billing issue
I signed up for Microsoft Azure, which I cancelled in Feb. 2021, I thought my last bill for $0.14 was the final bill--I still owe $0.05
They were auto debiting a money market account which I've closed. Of course I could mail them 5 pennies, but that would cost me postage.:p I'm curious to see when someone at their end realizes the piddling amount involved.. |
Likely never. Unlikely that there is a "somebody." Either they do nothing and the deficiency just stays on the books against some day when you want another product or it sits.
Make sure that the MM account isn't one with what amounts to an overdraft fee. Easiest is to provide another account number or to use an e-check. |

The money market acct has been closed. Stamp, electronic or whatever, I would just find a way to pay it and be done with it. |
When I did temp data entry while in college for ADT, I was told that any payment that was short by a certain amount (it was a really random number like $0.81) would be considered fully paid. I was pretty amazed at the number of checks I processed that were $0.81 short.
I'm pretty sure that Microsoft is not going to come after you for a nickel (or even two nickels and four pennies). |

I understand. But you don't want fees assessed against an account -- closed or not -- at a financial institution. That can start another entire cascading set of issues.

I actually did try to deal with the $0.05, but since the acct. is now closed, It would entail filling out several pages of forms...
Simply send a check to Microsoft for $0,05 with the remittance copy of the invoice. Or if there is an e-payment option, do that. I would not bother trying to reestablish an auto-bill function. |

Forget the closed account.

I might just ignore it and see if it comes up if you have to do something else with Microsoft again. If it comes up at that point, you can pay it as part of that process but the likelihood of them chasing you for 5 cents is pretty low and frankly would be REALLY petty.

In some instances when an acct is closed, you have no way of logging in to access it. Case in point: I just switched from BOOST MOBILE to MINT MOBILE (both of these are "porepaid" cellular.), I can't login to BOOST...I think they may owe me money:D

Your bank might have a bill pay feature. If it does, they'll ACH it to their list of billers, and if the payment is to a business/person/biller not on their list, they'll mail out a bank check (and pay postage too!) to the recipient :D
In general when companies offer a service (like Azure) which is marketed for users who pay $$$ per month they don't think that people whose bills run < $0.25/month even exist.:p |
I will simply call Microsoft to waive the fee.
FWIW - the processing cost alone exceeds the value collected. |
