This is the current offer from CenturyLink in my area. I was on a $38/mo plan but the two year contract expired. Any other good options for Idahoans?

Yes, imo. I'm currently paying $70+ for 50Mbps fiber optic service from CenturyLink

Not directly comparable ... but somewhat illustrative of the major metropolitan vs smaller urban area divide: I pay $79.99 (in DC) for 1 Gigabit (fibre optic) ... 940Mbps down and 920Mbps up ... and, ironically, cheaper than 150/150Mbps!

So tough to say to be honest as there a lot of factors involved. Where you live matters a lot, along with competition and future competition.....including cellular. Having said that, I find the cost reasonable. Assuming there is no cancellation fee? Hopping from service to service kinda sucks so it wold be nice to have a consistent price.

That is a pretty good price. What we pay isn't going to get cheaper so if you could lock that in for Life but have option to change with penalty then I think it is a GO.

Unless you're in a new build, you're not going to get CTL fiber.

I have the $45/mo price for life, and I get 60/20 DSL service.

depends on where you leave : i pay about 30 USD month for 1Gbps up / 1 Gbps down in Singapore. Upgrading to 2 Gbps up/down would be just another 10 usd/month but I have never felt the need for it.

40 for $40

Called last night and settled on 40megs for $40/mo. Price for life. I could have had 80megs for $50/mo but would have had to buy or lease a new modem. No thanks. 4omegs is fine with me.

Thanks for all the feedback.
