Flexiroam Free Sim and 1Gb of Data

I saw this a few days ago and placed an order. I was a little skeptical that it would process due to the fact that I have an account, and a sim sticker on one of my sim cards. The order was accepted and I got a shipping email this morning, so I should have the device and more info in a few days I believe. The shipping to the US is $6.20 and all major credit cards seem to be accepted.

My sim kit arrived today and appears to be the same as the one I received when I opened my original account. I do not intend to activate it until my next trip abroad which should be in Sept. of this year.

I'd suggest if you are interested in their service, you act soon. I did not see an end date to the offer but I don't expect it to last too long.

My personal experience with the sim switching on a phone is, that it works quite well and remains on whatever service you select reliably. I'd actually like to see other companies use something similar to this "Pass Through" option in Settings for accessing alternate carriers or log ons without physical sim swaps.

I got this deal but note the 1Gb is in a set of 53 countries not including the US. I couldn't get it to work in my US location (wouldn't connect), but their support via WhatsApp was pretty responsive let me know.

I'll admit I didn't even check the coverage which is plainly shown on the promo page linked above, and I don't mind too much because they have pretty cheap, tiny packages (e.g. $2.50 for 100 Mb) which is fine for me for a transit/stopover to check a bit of email between hotspots.

But, caveat emptor.

Edited to add - shipping took about 10 days to arrive in the Eastern US.

How do these people make money? Are they piggy backing on your web traffic and selling that for advertisers on your device?
