I am curious about both Fongo and VOIP.ms - is free really free for Fongo and the < $1.00 monthly charge really less than $1.00? In the case of Vonage, they are adding a lot of taxes and fees - even for a Virtual Number attached to a Canadian number.

Do they make money by hoping they can upsell?

I have been on Fongo for years. Never paid a cent. The app has ads.

Mind you I buy world credits because long distance calls are much cheaper on Fongo than my cell phone.
