It's possible that's configuration by either the corporate IT folks, or by the third party companies that lease the copiers, or that I just fouled up Googling on it. UFR II seems to have very stable generic drivers (and something comparable to a postscript PPD file) that work nicely under Linux without being fussy about the specific models.

If my company's local office ever reopens, I can re-check the models they have.

I work from a home office and am looking to consolidate several machines into one multifunction, color laser printer. Minimum requirements: wireless, ADF for scanning, two paper trays. Nice to have: automatic duplex printing and scanning. I don't have a Mac computer, which seems to have a connectivity problem with some brands.

So far I've only seen two paper trays with Canon, but I may be missing others. I've had only HP printers for decades, and they've lived close to forever. In fact, I still have an old B/W laserjet that works with Win 10, although it's incredibly slow.

Does anyone have any recommendations? As usual, the reviews are split on every brand.

Agreed, for some reason it is difficult to find a printer that works right out of the box when connected to wifi. Either there is an issue with printing from iphones, or Google school accounts, or Chrome, or whatever. And of course very difficult to find timely, competent tech support via phone or chat.

My Dell has started to flip false error messages that require a reboot to clear. I guess the old wisdom holds about not investing in a high priced printer as it is destined to become e-waste just like the cheap ones. That said I think the upgrade to laser is worth the money, despite the overpriced ink.
