Are Universal Battery Packs permitted in c/o luggage?

I bought a 15600 mAh Universal Battery Pack, it's about the size of an I-phone (but considerably heaver); it's essentially a LITHIUM-ION BATTERY. Are there known issues with TSA confiscating such devices, possibly due to the L-I Battery?
PS: I paid $20 for it, it can charge 2 devices at the same time--great in an emergency.

Basically if you are near or under 100 watt hours you are fine...per TSA: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-...100-watt-hours

I've carried all sorts of power bricks on board and never paid attention to the policy, nor has any TSA checkpoint ever looked twice at the bars.

They're legal up to 26,800 mAh per battery. (Logic says the limit is 20,000 mAh but the ratings are bogus--they're the rating of the battery cell itself, not the output power.) The only time it has ever been an issue is once in PVG--and that because I accidentally packed one. (I thought I had taken everything out of my daypack before it went in the suitcase. The battery was hiding in the bottom.) Fortunately, luggage checking in PVG is done right--they don't like your bag, they call you in. We found the offending battery, it's carry-on legal, I threw it in my laptop bag where I thought it had been in the first place.

Beware of taking batteries lacking a label as to capacity to China, there have been reports of them treating anything unlabeled as being oversize and not allowed to fly. (Obviously some people were destroying the markings in an effort to get oversize batteries through--not exactly surprising for China.)

Note that they are not permitted in checked baggage anywhere.

That the combined battery power of the T470 is 96 Wh and that the Macbook Pro is 99.5 Wh has absolutely nothing to do with this idiot ruling.

To the OP - that's completely fine in all the geographies I've been in with one (US, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, S Korea, France, Switzerland, UK).

Note that in most cases, putting even a small personal battery pack in checked luggage will get you caught, but carry-on is completely fine. I was "caught" in ICN for forgetting to take a 5000 mAh charger out of my checked luggage (it was a gift from my cousin, still in the box) - just had to remove it and put it in my backpack.

Just be sure that the battery capacity is clearly marked. In China, security will confiscate if they are not marked. I had all mine checked in September, but none were confiscated.

I travel with lots of gadgets, and am searched at times. Even though I am Global Entry and TSApre. It all depends, but I have things well packed for easy inspection.

I did have to give up my small screwdriver set in China though. Tiny, for disassembling gadgets.

Tools are never an easy pass at an airport, they did not let my beautiful (and damn expensive for what it is) small Knipex pliers through at the Budapest airport. No edges, the whole thing was 5" long.

There are many countries where "tools" are banned in their regulations. China is one of them and this applies to HK and Macao as well.

I downscaled my standard carry on to remove fold up pliers and screwdriver set. However, a pen looking mini screwdrivere is still scanned through without any problem.

I think the bigger problem on markings is when you buy them at Flea Markets etc and they put a higher number to make it look like you got a deal !

I have seen small ones with 30,000 , 40,000 mAh markings which are maybe 25% of that........but they seemed cheap , too bad you were getting "Vapor" mAh
