Ideas for temporary Internet access: SF Bay Area

If a couple visiting the Bay Area for a fortnight needs reliable Wi-Fi / Internet access (to be used with laptops, not phones) what would you recommend that combines data speed with low cost?

phone tethering would probably be the lowest cost. Followed up by a pre-paid hotspot. The cost can vary by carrier.

checkout out the wifi access points in the city where they are going to be.. you might find suitable wifi available at that address. this place is pretty covered.

use a VPN though.

In my experience, SF Bay area probably has the highest concentration of wifi hotspots in the US. Unlike Asian outlets of 30min code with each order, Starbucks is free and many others offer free wifi as well.

My comments will echo tentseller's -- I think you'll find enough open WiFi in the area that you wouldn't need a hotspot.

I recently used Xfinity in Boston / Plymouth. It was $18 for a week, and worked well. I wasn't doing much than needed a lot of speed, but browsing and emails etc. worked fine.
