Between the $15 for 5Gb and $15 for 5 days, I pre-plan my usage. The 5-day option is good if there will be heavy usage days.

in my reading, the 5 day plan doesnt seem to make sense....

its the same price for 5Day or 5GB

the 5Day "unlimited" plan limits you to 750MB fair usage / day before they throttle you...and being throttled is almost useless IMHO.

IME, there are some location which are not throttled, probably the "home" network.

Is this not already a solved problem? Either buy a prepaid SIM in Europe for 10 euro or get Google Fi before you leave and pay $10/GB.

I don't understand US cell phone plan prices. They always seem an order of magnitude higher than I would expect.

signing up with google fi just for this would be pretty expensive if one didn't already have a nexus device (or access to one) and there are some minimums to take into consideration for new account sign ups.

probably better off with a domestic plan extension or foreign sims.
