E-faxing services. Any recent experiences?

I have rarely needed to send or receive a fax in the past 5 years. However, more recently I'm helping coordinate care for my favorite Auntie who's not doing well.

So when I need to send/receive fax, the need is now urgent and I'm traveling.

All the threads on e-faxing solutions were really old. Any recent experiences from FT mavens on who's good and who to stay away from?

I've used HelloFax which includes 5 free pages... I've only used the free tier but it seems to do the job...

Not sure where you are operating from, but in the UK I have happily been using Voipfone.co.uk for years, as have friends.

I just completed an audit of my company's fax servers. We have to maintain incoming lines for clients that we do outsourcing work for.

The perform the review I needed to send a 400+ faxes to all kinds of numbers. Used Interfax.net for the work, and found them inexpensive and with an efficient user interface. Their pricing system is structured around buying a prepaid allotment of pages. I think $10 is the minimum spend.

Thanks so much FlyingDoctorwu. A free tier is exactly what I need. I canceled my efax free 30 days and switched to HelloFax.

Most months it will be < 5 pages. On the month or 2 if it has to be more, I'll jump up 1 tier. But it won't be a recurring cost for a service I'm not using.

The recent PCmag review of faxing services had incorrect info about HelloFax vs what they offer now. I wouldn't have checked them out without seeing your reply.

Thanks also for your replies Craig6z, dtsm, and antichef.

caveat: I think it's a total of 5 free faxes. Not 5 per month. But I could be wrong. I've only needed to send a handful of faxes over the years.

I've used voip.ms for occasional faxing. At $1.99/month + 2.9c/minute, it's likely to be among the cheapest options for low volume, though the UI is geared towards function over form.

OneSuite's internet faxing is $1/mo with cheap overseas rates.

Oops. See below.

OneSuite's $1/mo plan only lets you receive faxes, not send them. To send faxes, you need the $2.95/mo plan, and are charged per minute for actual outbound use.

gotfreefax.com looks interesting.

You can pre-pay for 100 pages of faxing for $10 and the credit never expires.

If you want to send international faxes, you have to pre-pay $50. Seems like typical rates are $0.22/page.

I've had voipfone.co.uk for around 4 years now and just as with your experience, they have always provided a reliable service to me.
