Sounds almost exactly like Skyroam. I'm happy with my Skyroam ($8 per 24 hours of use in as many countries as you can visit in those 24 hours). Plus, it works on up to 5 devices and offers unlimited data.

Here's my secret hope: eventually, for competitive reasons, the major U.S. cell phone providers will allow us to roam with our domestic plans ANYWHERE in the world without added costs!
Maybe the $10/day is an incremental step in this direction!

Sorry, it was a dumb joke. I should have said "AT&T finally gets on board and copies Verizon's 2015 initiative." I do have a pal that left AT&T last year because the AT&T international plan was deficient by comparison.
What's interesting to me is that carriers seem to be converging on similar plans, similar coverage, upgrade incentives - or lack thereof. With this AT&T feature, and if the latest Sprint ad campaign ("we're 99% as good") is to be believed, I have less reason to stick with Verizon.

The major difference between this and Verizon appears to be Canada and Mexico. I believe you can get free roaming if you're on an AT&T unlimited plan, but otherwise appear to be stuck with the standard $10 day pass rate. Verizon, at least, has those countries for $2/day. Otherwise, looks largely the same.

I believe you can get free roaming if you're on an AT&T unlimited plan, but otherwise appear to be stuck with the standard $10 day pass rate. Verizon, at least, has those countries for $2/day. Otherwise, looks largely the same.

Mexico roaming is free for the shared plan. Canada is more tricky. I got the old Roaming Canada plan because I saw a thread here saying that you could call and ask for it. It is not the same as the current Roam North America plan which includes Mexico and Canada.. the North America plan only available for Direct TV subscribers. But the CSR could add the discontinued Roam Canada plan. I asked nicely and got it added just before my Canada trip last year. Also the Roam Canada is different than the others as it does not use your shared data at home.. it just gives you like 1GB of data. So it is not as good for longer trip.

Thanks for the clarifications on Mexico and Canada. Still not completely clear, but you'd think they would at least mention the exceptions for those countries for those of us not already AT&T customers.
