I can confirm. I've paid with Apple Pay on my watch and iPhone. Even though the card numbers are obfuscated, I see a full transaction history with my actual card number including ones where I've used apple pay. They show up as a "2nd card" but with the same number on the profile.

Noted. Thanks for the correction. The only cards I've got on the phone are American Visa cards, so that'd explain why it never worked for me.

To provide another data point, I was in London this past week and can confirm that Google Pay with Chase Visa cards works fine on TfL. I also tried a BofA Visa and it did not work -- looks like BofA hasn't yet implemented fDDA support. I re-added all my credit cards to Google Pay just before traveling to ensure they were recently provisioned.

Apple Pay w/ Chase Sapphre Reserve Visa works.

Apple Pay w/US Platinum Amex and US Centurion Amex failed.

Those are my experiences this month.

Can you view travel history on the tfl site with the CSR?

I tapped the physical Amex Platinum card itself on the tube during a recent visit.

Did it work to pay for the Tube?

You must have asked for a card with the contactless chip, as Amex hasn’t sent me those. Did you try to use Apple Pay with the Amex Platinum card selected for use to pay for the Tube? If so, did that work? It hasn’t worked for me.

I deleted my response soon after posting it when I realized that I had used the (physical) Hilton card not Platinum - sorry.

When I applied a couple of years ago, Amex issued me a contactless Platinum card without my asking; the NFC symbol is easy to miss on the back of the card!

Can I ask which type of B of A Visa you used? Debit, Alaska Airlines, Premium Rewards, etc?

Thanks!

Re-add your two Visa cards and try again? Though if you already ended up getting an Oyster card, this might not be worth the trouble until your next trip.

(BTW the Costco Visa itself can be tapped at regular stores. Might work on TfL too.)

Did you try using the Costco card contactless, or through ApplePay?

Through ApplePay. Didn't try contactless. Ended up just buying a Zone 1 return because I didn't want to futz around with it.

AMEX will not work - that is a decision that AMEX made.

For your Visa cards, when did you add them to your phone? If they were added more than 12-15 months ago, they likely won't work.
