Anyone runs an ADS-B receiver at home? Thinking about using my Raspberry Pi to run one. Just ordered a DVB receiver. Ill keep you posted.

I have a Pi2 with a DVB stick reporting to both FlightAware and FlightRadar24. It took a few hours to get everything to talk, but it works well.

Yep. It's stupidly simple if you use the FlightAware instructions. There's info in their forums about how to feed FR24 from the same setup. What's nice is if you feed FA or FR24 you get their top tier account free as long as you're a data feeder.

Yep! Been doing it for 2-3 years now with an RTL DVB from Nooelec.com I also do the FlightAware/FR24 thing too for the free accounts.

I'd get a few planes here or there with the antenna in my window, but eventually I made a quick antenna out of a coat hanger & some coax and put it on the roof of my office's building and the signals started to pour in.

I also carry a DVB stick in my carry-on as well. All sorts of fun stuff to listen to around an airport.

Good to hear I'll be able to feed both, as I'd like to take advantage of both premium offers. You don't get any free API transactions, right?

Not that I am aware of, but I haven't looked into it for my purposes.

I do know that if you feed FlightAware, they will provide you with a "license" for PlanePlotter (if you are interested in that, I use Virtual Radar)

I have a RTL_SDR dongle hooked to a Linux laptop that I run dump1090 on.

Don't see the utility of it, but I thought it was kind of neat to try. Probably would be a lot more interesting if one is interested in aviation photography and camps out near the runways taking pictures.

I just got a ASD-B/ DVB stick and can't for the life of me figure out SDR. I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers several times. I just can't find it as a source on HDSR

I use SDR#. read through this link for a great step by step on how to use the dongle for SDR

I've had an ADS-B rec for ~5 years. I use an SBS-1er as my receiver. It connects to the basestation software, and then there's a utility to feed it to FR24.

I need to mothball that old Windows server 2003 VM and transition over to RPi as a receiver. I reckon I'll need to google how to do that.

Assembled an ADS-B receiver with instructions from FlightAware. The antenna currently sits inside a window (we rent, or else I'd mount something on the roof).

my range isn't too bad considering a quick install with an antenna sticking out the window of the second floor.
