Project Fi (v. Google Voice) as a Virtual Mobile Number
My main phone is an iPhone 6 on ATT's international global data plan. I use a Line2 number as my virtual cell phone number. When I am abroad, I use it VOIP or forwarded to a roaming SIM which has free inbound calls on a US number (Truphone or Toggle). Occasionally, I fororward the calls to a local prepaid.
I'm thinking of replacing Line2 with Project Fi and have access to a Nexus 6 to activate it on. Once activated, I planned on putting the Project Fi SIM in a small Nokia pentaband phone most of the time and ordering some of the tablet SIMs for various devices with an eye towards replacing my TMobile data SIM in my Surface 3, assuming the performance was tolerable in Canada. As noted earlier, I've also played with bonding two data connections to increase the connection abroad as well. My questions are: 1. Does ProjectFi support call forwarding similar to Google Voice? 2. Does ProjectFi support call forwarding to foreign numbers? 3. Does ProjectFi support call through dialing (non-VOIP)non softphone's connections on other mobiles phones? Does anyone see any other flaws |
Does FI let you move the devices around with just a SIM change? Their FAQs seem to indicate that this will be an issue. (Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, which is possible.)

Once activated, the SIM will work in other phones (unofficially) but they can't access the Sprint Network.
