Travel with a 20-25 year old computer?
 

I don't even know if it works. If it turns on, is it likely to be able to do anything? You might be able to type on MS Works but then I don't know if any printer can print that thing.

You might be able to play Solitaire or Minesweeper on it.

Just throw it out?

Before I move this thread to the more apt Travel Technology forum, let me encourage you to add some information to the thread to help you get some useful advice: If you're not sure of the computer's basic working condition and usefulness, why were you thinking that it might or could accompany you while traveling?

I would be amazed if it turned on. I have 3 year old notebooks at work that won't turn on after not being used for 6 months. Can't imagine something after that long. I would guess you would get really frustrated with the speed if it did work.

I'm kind of confused about why you would want to travel with it if you don't know if it works (i.e. you've not used it in, um, decades). Is it nostalgia?

I found it in a box in a closet.

I seriously doubt it has a collector's value.

So why travel with it...throw it out (or better, try to recycle it).

In computer terms, 25 years is practically prehistoric

At 20 years old, it's not "good". It may be functional, and be able to do what it did 20 years ago. But it's of no value today, unless you have a very specific, very niche need that you can think of. Or it's a very rare/collectible version of something (too young for an Apple 1, or similar)

Yes. I would travel with it everywhere I went. I'm sure it's lightweight, right?

Ok, my real question........ is it worth saving? I think not.

I fear that it cannot even connect to the internet. It can't word process well because it may be incompatible with printers. It used to use a dot matrix printer. If it is worth saving, I will try to take it on the plane later this month.
