EmPower Adapter
I'm booked on VS008 in October, LAX to LHR. Virgin website tells me the equipment is the 340-600 and has EmPower outlets in UC. They also state that if you don't have an adapter then they will loan you one for the flight, I imagine that this is the EmPower male to cigarette lighter female to enable you to plug in your own male cig adapter.
I have two different laptops and a tablet that I want to use but don't relish the thought of buying three dedicated adapters to get from my devices to their adapter. Is there such a thing as a male cig lighter plug that accepts a three prong male plug and a USB male? I can find inverters that meet those requirements but I don't need an inverter. |
According to the EmPower section on http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en...top-power.html :
If you don't have your own lead, our cabin crew have Kensington power leads you can borrow upon request. Please note: The power leads we carry onboard support UK 3 pin plugs only. |

So, assuming your chargers all accept 110-220w, all you'll need is a basic plug adapter like this to all three devices (one at a time, of course). Using the USB portion of the adapter I linked to, you could also possibly charge both the tablet and a phone at the same time, depending on their required charging current.
Thanks, Ordered one of these as it has more functionality than the myriad others that I carry around and will be useful later as it appears I may be making several trips to the Middle East and Asia next year. If it looks good I'll buy more. |

Just make sure your chargers support 110-220v before you use the adapter in 220v countries. If the charger only supports 110v, you'll need a voltage converter, not just the plug adapter listed above. Your laptop chargers are, more than likely, fine but your tablet and phone chargers could go either way (though the included 2x USB charger might mitigate that depending on your devices' current demands).

The rating will be written in microscopic print on all of the chargers.
