MS Office Home 2013

My partner just called and asked if I could find MS Office Home 2013 inexpensively.

He wants to be able to do some office work at home; but work does not have any agreement for a discount deal.

Anyone have any recommendation on a reputable place to get a legal copy?

Thanks,

William

I'd check this website for both of your employers and see if you're eligable:

If not, maybe someone here who is can purchase for you and send you the license/download instructions. I've already used both of my licenses or I would happily do so for you.

Costco sells the 2013 Home and Students product key for about $113

IsleOfMan,

Unfortunately, his hospital does not participate in the program.

I am not working right now.... so I am of no use in that department... :)

Office365 includes Office 2013, and can be installed on 5 machines. There is an annual licence fee, but there is a free trial. You can register and download on the MS site.

Since we only need a copy for one machine, that would be overkill.... and hate the annual fee option.

You can also use Office online for free.

There is an important distinction for the Office 365 and Office 2013 home premium/home & student editions: under the licensing agreement they cannot be used for commercial, non-profit, or revenue generating activities. To use one of these editions at home for work purposes, you often must be covered under an employer's license that extends home use rights, which it sounds is not the case here. Whatever route you go, make sure you're not running afoul of license agreements.

That. And OP, your partner would want to make sure the work he is doing from home for the hospital does not contain any patient data. He doesn't want to violate any privacy law...

Believe me, we are very clear on HIPPA and other applicable rules. :)

He could also try LibreOffice, a free and open-source office suite that can read/write/save in MS Office formats. It does just about everything MS Office does.

Thanks for the advice everyone.... but my original request is what we are looking for.... so, if anyone has any other suggestion for it... it would be appreciated! :)

Are you a student? (Or former one with valid credentials?). Its how I got my office on both my Mac and PC... 100% free. Im afraid that the next version of office for MAC (when and if it comes out) will not be free though...

No.. not a current student.... been many years since I was in school! :)

Have you bought a lower end Atom processor Windows 8 or 8.1 (not RT) tablet lately? Some of them (like Dell Venue 8 Pro) came with Office 2013 Student Edition activation key for free.
