android phone receipt scanning software?

Looking for a decent, easy to use receipt scanning app that won't inundate me with ads. Not adverse to spending a few bucks on it as long as I can try it out first. Want to be able to scan a receipt, save it as a jpg or pdf. Maybe some basic organization. All my trips are a week or less at this time. Local storage is fine, I can push them up to dropbox. But not adverse to a cloud-based storage paradigm, either.

Oh; if there's a version of the same thing that I can use with a webcam built into my laptop, that's a bonus...

Anyone run across anything they really like (or dislike)?

Thanks!!!

Charlie

try CamScanner free app. Turns them into PDF files.

I did try camscanner on a recommendation. Too many ads for my taste. And it was not very clear; very difficult to get a good photo. I tried google drive and it seems to work very easily and well. I might stick with that for a bit unless and until I find something better. Wish google drive worked on a PC with a webcam, though. For some reason they only port their "scan" function to the phones. I can take a photo of the receipt and edit/save it from the laptop, but it's not as simple as using the phone...

Use Smart Receipts. Amazing product. I could change how it would export my reports with the columns and such so that I could export from there and literally copy paste to my companies form. Saves a huige amount of time. Free has ads, pro is worth it. I'd buy pro twice (just to support the awesome product). Everything you need, nothing you don't

How about just using Google Drive? It has a great receipt / document scanning capability that is able to be activated from a widget without even opening the app.

Genius Scan

I have used Genius Scan on the iDevice and then moved over to KitKat and used it there. For android I have been using the free version (with the standard bottom banner advert) and it works fine for me. I put them in a PDF and have the app send to Dropbox (there are other options too). Then pick it up on the PC side for my Expense Report.

Worth a free download to give it a try. They have a paid version as well.

Yup.. I like CamScanner. Great for lots of things. Another tool in the toolbag is ExpressExpense. Nice for receipts for expense reports. If you are using CamScanner - you have to use the Pro version. The free version is just a taste of the real deal.

Expensify - fantastic, and free for personal use.

Not anymore, at least if you want to "submit" expense reports.

I use it every week, and submit an expense claim. I think there is a limit to the number of employees that can submit to the same account, but you can submit a claim to your own email address without issues.

They made some change back in July that prevented me from submitting any expense reports (the error message was something to the effect that I didn't have a balance to charge the submission against). I'm the only person in my company, so it couldn't have been the number of employees, unless the number of employees that can use it for free is zero.

Perhaps too many abandoned ship at that point and they reversed their decision. Too late for me, though; I'd already torn down the linkages to my bank and credit card accounts and unsubscribed from their email notifications. I know they need to make a buck, but I have other options that aren't that much more difficult and remain free.
