Clearly, your idea to have something to use in a car is an important contribution. Some of the talk here has been about how to use appliances in hotels catering to tourists in major european cities in American or similar type hotel chains, or something similar. I never thought I was going to run out of battery while GPS'ing through central Sicily. Different needs for different people. CD Traveler, I'm going to check into the device you recommend.

You can also find car adapters that produce 120V/60Hz. You are limited to about 120W by the car power socket limitation but that can be enough to charge a laptop which the USB won't.

You can certainly plug the blow dryer in but it won't run for long on a shaver socket. Nor will anything else until the fuse is replaced. At least in the UK they will probably not withstand the inrush from plugging a laptop adapter in.
