You are still not getting it...
For the old plan, the monthly charge WAS prorated but the data was NOT. For example, if you turned the 800MB/$120 on for two days only. You would get 800MB for 2 days but were only charged $8 instead of $120. This was when ATT had the one month minimum charge which they did not enforce. The reason to know if they still prorate the recurring plan and not enforcing the new 2 month minimum is to know whether or not they are still charging you only $8 instead of $120. Your family picked the one time charge plan which will be charged regardless of when you turn off and on, which we have already established, but that is not the plan I'm talking about here. as for the first statement here, all I can tell you is that I had used the previous plans for nearly the past 7 years, and never had it pro-rated..I paid 30$ for data only, used anywhere from 0-120mb say and that was it.. even if I cancelled after a day a week, two weeks, etc. Usually I would set it up to start on X day and end on Y day (maybe 10 days later) and it would charge the full month. So the experience historically could not have been universal regardless. good luck getting your answer though. I'm surprised SOMEONE at AT&T can't answer it. Sure, first line if poor at knowing the rules, but usually someone up the food chain can. |

so, as you know the "old" int'l data plan, the no limit one and the old separate data only plans are no longer available. Some people still have the no limit plan (we have a couple) but unless you're on a moon of endor it's not available and moot.

No that's not what I am talking about...a lot of FTers seem to be confused about this since the beginning of this thread.
The OLD Int'l data plan had a language that stated a minimum of one month was required. HOWEVER, that was never enforced and people were getting prorated if they only turned it on for 5 days, for example. They were only charged for 5 days. The NEW Global data plan has a ONE TIME charge option, which the system will automatically charges the FULL one month fee, without it being prorated. Many of us have confirmed this. HOWEVER, there is still another NEW automatic renew/recurring plan option that has a language stating a 2 month minimum (used to be 3, even with the new plan). HOWEVER, no one has ever confirmed that AT&T is indeed charging a minimum of 2 months or they are still prorating under this plan. Yes, their website indicates a minimum period, but the question many are asking is whether or not they are ENFORCING this, because they never did with the old plan, even with the minimum language in the T&C. I have a trip to Costa Rica in a few days and am tempted to not get a local sim card as its 4 days and just use AT&T. $30 seems a bit steep for this, but can justify as we'll be renting a car. I can also probably use the data in KIX for the DO at the end of the March. But before having the data prorated was rather convenient and kept the costs lower. Thanks for the thoughts. |
