Travel Adapter

Does anyone have any good recommendations of a good & durable travel adapter? ;)

Are you referring to a plug adapter, and not a device that includes a transformer (for converting voltage)? Most devices these days, laptop adapters, shavers, hair dryers, etc., are worldwide voltage (110v - 240v), so in the vast majority of instances, one would not need a device that includes a transformer, thus saving considerably on cost and bulk.

If you fall into this camp, then my advice would be to get a kit, something like this and further minimize on bulk by only taking the plugs you need:

Note that I am not specifically endorsing this particular brand or store, but just providing an example of what I am suggesting.

I am personally not a big fan of the all-in-one units. Sure, they keep everything in one place, but I find them bulky and occasionally difficult if not impossible to use in some countries that like to recess their outlets.

If you're referring to plug adapters, I prefer the block versus the whole kit. My REI adapter has seen years of abuse across the world and works great. Plus nice to have a USB plug on it in addition to the normal adapter. And if it ever fails, you could take it back to REI. However, I've put mine through so much I would just buy another one.

Travel Adapter

Get a basic set of adapters & a duel voltage power strip. There are never enough plugs in foreign hotel rooms

How is using device powered by USB while plugged in? I have one of the supposedly well made adapters with integrated USB and it creates so much noise on the USB power line, that it actually interferes with touchscreen on several devices I've used with it.
