Callcentric Cheap as Dirt DIDS for Canada
 

Callcentric now offers their "cheap as dirt" Canadian DIDs (voip phone lines). It is $3 a month, but includes unlimited inbound calls. This is more expensive than some of the PAYG numbers, but all inbound minutes are free. Whether this is a better deal is to an open question.

FYI, another option: I'm with Voip.ms for my Canadian DIDS.

$0.99 per month, and $0.005 (half-a-cent) per minute.

I have VOIP.MS as well on the same plan. Their number selector let me find a Canadian number which was only one digit different from my US mobile number.
