"ICE" app for iPhone that still lets you use password protect?
There used to be a consolidated iPhone apps thread stickied, but now I can't find it :))
Can anyone recommend a good app (App Store or Cydia) that allows ones "ICE" contact info to be seen even on a password protected iPhone? I know that I can put an "ICE" contact in my contacts list, but I don't want to not have password/lockscreen protection turned on for the phone. |

Using an image editing program, I've typed text over the image used for the phone's background image (not an iPhone, but it looks like it would work). The way the iPhone works, once unlocked, the icons might cover over the text in a way that's not annoying or distracting. Hack #2: A label with the essentials, made with a Brother P-Touch, stuck to the back of the phone. Works even if the battery is toast. |
I've been happy using the free version of the Contact Lockscreen Info app for the past couple of years.

Looks very handy, but no matter what I do, the saved image is not in my pictures.

How are you using your own background photo with the free version?

Interesting. I've never had this problem. I use this app on both iPhone and iPad. Currently running iOS 7, but it worked on iOS 6 too.
Not worth any more messing with, unfortunately -- because it looked really nice. There was a Cydia one that I had a long time ago but can't find the name now, since so many Cydia apps have such odd names. ETA: While neither of these are free, both look promising for a buck or two: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/jbs-...9381?ls=1&mt=8 https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/emer...657684240?mt=8 |

The way the iPhone works, once unlocked, the icons might cover over the text in a way that's not annoying or distracting. I think went quick and dirty and wrote the details on paper and took a pic with the iPhone to just get the picture on the phone fast. It is just for me or for emergency, so doesn't have to be some pretty font. DanishFlyer |
Well, for the moment, what I've done is simply type the info I want into a Note, take a picture of that, and use it as the lock screen. Probably what I should have done to start with!

Have a look at "If Found" or "Return Me" in the AppStore.
Both are free and work well. You save the details as a screenshot photo, and then use the image as the screen saver when you turn on the phone. The password/fingerprint options work to keep everything secure with the screen readable if the phone is found. I have used both happily and use Return Me at the moment on my 5s. On the screen it has my name, it has a phone number and an email address. It works as an ICE, and an "if found" contact. If you have a problem with getting the image (which is pretty simple!), then pm me |
