You have one Scott?

No, Galaxy Gear here. But i have rooted it, and with the help of the folks at XDA flashed a rom with Internet and GPS support for the Galaxy Gear. The watch runs whatsapp, Skype, Maildroid etc.

no Glass - I do have a MicroOptical Corp monocular display though, so that's like the GrandDaddy Google Glass I guess

I've been playing with that rom, but too many things not entirely working yet. Still, they managed to squeeze more out of it than Samsung did...

What I'm really desperate for is a way to reliably and easily tether the device and be able to choose what gets displayed on the output whether it be the camera, the display or both. I've had a few workarouds, but they're extremely cumbersome and in more than one case required a programmer and some extra gear.

The hardest thing is getting my hands on GG fro more than just a quick trial.

Invites were selling for around $400 on eBay.

Played with one for a day last month and in mid december i will get one for a more extended trial at work. It was and will be a loaner from a dev in AUS. Apparently they got in a bunch more to beta test their apps. I have a $30/month T Mo prepaid sim that i put in my GNex and used that to tether and walk around town.

People I know praise it, others hate it. I can't see myself using it due to it being unsightly and over hyped.

Due to privacy issues I can see a work places banning it and that will have a big impact on its future.

I've been wanting one since day one. Waiting on my invite.....or for someone with one to use their 'invite a friend' thing for me

As much as I want one, I can't imagine it being that useful to me.

Is anyone able to convince me to get myself one for Christmas?

Do you already have an invitation? If not:
The Explorer Program launched earlier this year and is designed for people who want to get involved early and help shape the future of Glass. We’re expanding The Explorer Program little by little, and experimenting with different ways of bringing new Explorers into the program.

If you’re a US resident and are interested in joining, you can sign up here and we’ll let you know if a spot opens up - please note that, while we'd like to invite everyone, we can't guarantee invites right now.

Buy it if you have a spare $1500, you won't regret it.

I'm tempted, Scott. But I'm just not sure what I would use it for?

It may be like bluetooth headsets. Some people find it useful to wear them all the time while others wouldn't be caught dead wearing them.

With GG, it'll be the same thing though the more image-conscious will avoid them, unless they can make it look like regular glasses.

You don't find many women wearing bluetooth headsets, it seems.
