Verizon EDGE - anyone using it?

I have an old Galaxy Nexus, that I do want to upgrade, but don't want to give up my unlimited data plan, so upgrading the traditional way is not an option for me.

The new program from Verizon, which just means that I am basically paying $700 for a new Note 3, just $30 a month for two years.

Seems like a lot, paying that much for a phone.

Any thoughts?

Could you buy a phone from eBay or Best Buy or such and use it instead?

Sure, but if you want the latest, you still have to pay it full price, the $700

This way, it's the equivalent of buying a washer and dryer, and getting the no interest offers for 24 months,

True. I just don't see the need to pay that much for a new phone. :)

You know that you are not eligible for the Edge plan right? For existing unlimited plan user you have to switch to the Max plan. It is either 6GB/month data for $30 or 8GB/month + tethering enabled for $50. So basically you will have to lower your unlimited plan to 6GB and pay a penny extra per month to pay full price for the phone with payment plan over 24 months.

But if you are switching away from the unlimited plan, you probably might as well just go to the normal shared everything plan and pay $300 for the Note 3 instead of $700. The share everything plan with 6GB is $80 + $40 = $120 which is probably about what you are paying anyway!

Actually I didn't know that.

Don't want to give up my unlimited plan.

Thanks for letting me know
