Then again, chances are we'll start seeing Pureview tech in an upcoming Windows Phone.

I'm not sure there'll ever be another camera phone like it, simply because a sensor of that size makes the phone so large and heavy.

Welllll... really depends. I'm very happy with an 808 and an iPad (which could equally have been an Android tablet given what I use it for). The 808 does most things I want in a phone and does them very well, and often gives me a day and a half of battery life too.

The major fail is the camera. The ultrapixel technology provides good low light performance, albeit with color artifacts, tinting and other issues, however, the camera performs about the same as the SG4 in 99% of daily use cases, although if you blow the photo up, you can find slightly greater detail and color accuracy with the HTC One - except you can't blow the photo up very much because you have a 4MP image! If you're looking for a phone+camera to take excellent images that can match an entry level P+S camera, the only device that works here is the SG4 with 13MP and excellent daylight performance. A 4MP camera is unacceptable in 2013, even if the sensor offers excellent performance. If I want to use this phone as a camera and actually print images, I can't do it with the One.
Personally, I think HTC have probably gone a good route with the camera. A phone camera that takes better pictures than anything else (phone camera-wise) out there in low light is a likely winner considering how camera phones are used by the vast majority of people.
The memory I can live with. I'm not a fan of the inability to swap the battery out though. I just don't trust the battery to last - either for a day or over time. Then again, for work I use an original Evo 4G, so I'm used to running a phone from a charger 24/7, even with a 3200mAh aftermarket battery in it.

The vast, vast majority IMO are simply going to transfer the digital image and keep it digital. Anyone with serious intentions is going to at least use a P&S with some sort of physical zoom

About two weeks ago I choose the Xperia Z over the HTC One, as I travel a lot to beaches and also like to stay at the pool. The water proofed design was the deciding point. Also that the Xperia Z has a mini-SD-Slot. Otherwise the phones are nearly identical.

I hope the new phone is better than the HTC Windows 8S which we all cut over to a few months ago. I have to say it's the second-worst bit of phone equipment I have ever had to handle - nadir goes to an early Vodafone-badged smartphone, which after a few months were all sent back.
I fear the same may be going to happen to our Windows 8S before long.
The basic tech specs are doubtless fine, and get well-written about by technology authors who have never used the thing. It seems the software, and particularly the testing, was very much a Friday-afternoon job.
About every three days it will suddenly go to maximum zoom while idle, cannot be un-zoomed, and becomes useless until you reboot.
Zoom is only implemented on a fraction of the screens, and the ones without are of course the ones which have used a ludicrously small font.
Answering the phone, it cuts off about 50% of the time and you have to call the other party back.
The battery will just quit without warning and the battery life remaining indication is grossly inaccurate. You just find its dead. You develop the habit of having it plugged in all night, every night.
The volume rocker switch will just rock to ringer volume turned off while it is in your pocket, then the phone never rings.
Battery recharge time is about 6-8 hours, which exceeds any device I have experienced.
The display is invisible in sunlight.
The SMS text messages cannot be collated in time order, only in order of the last message from each caller.
You can't associate an incoming SMS text phone number with a name, you have to set this up as a contact in Outlook on your PC and synchronise. This becomes impossible with a large company where you have the one central contact phone number but people contact on individual phones.
The list goes on ...... I'll just give up (which is what I've pretty much done with the phone overall).

Picked one up a few days ago, mourning the retirement of my Epic 4G, which has thus far been my favorite phone. It was just plain old getting...old and broken.
Initial opinions:
I was ultimately worried about size. Compared to my Epic 4G in a huge case which I was completely comfortable with, it's equally as wide and only taller by the silver speaker section at the top. I can live with that and will look for a thin gel protector for my One. The metal case feels solid.
While it fits well in my hand, the home and back buttons are a good stretch for my thumb when holding it with one hand in portrait.
I like Sense. This version is great (I had a Touch Pro 2 formerly before my Epic). I put the blinkfeed to the side and never use it, but Sense maxes out at five windows, one of which is BF. Bummer.
Haven't formed a full opinion yet, but it may have the same antenna troubles the 4S had. I was using WiFi in landscape and had full bars. Turned it to portrait and lost all connectivity. Didn't spend enough time to really dive into it.
Tried Zoe, pretty cool, but haven't yet found a practical use. Maybe I will, maybe not. What does happen though, is you will then get 30 photos and a video automatically uploaded to DB with one shutter click. Gotta come up with a workaround for that.

Folks.... I only just searched for this thread now so I apologize for starting an independent thread with this question... is there a source for the 64GB version of this phone (unlocked) in the USA...? Amazon seems to only have the 32GB version.
Thanks.
Thanks.

A got one today. Just a few impressions
- I personally like the Lumia's better but its a really nice phone. Looks really formal in silver.
- Sense has gotten really nice. My last Android/HTC phone was sense 2.0 so this is dramatically better. Zero lag anywhere.
- Incredible incredible screen. Wow. HTC killed it here.
- Great speakers that make listening without headphones a good experience. Can't say I've ever said that.
-Haven't tested camera and battery yet. The rave reviews of low light makes me think they'll make excellent TR pics. I use a small micro 4/3rds for most of my other photos so I think I'll be ok.
-T-Mo's network isnt great over here. But calls were decent. 2-4 bars of signal. No LTE here and I didnt try the HSPA yet.
Think HTC has a fantastic phone that isnt marketed well or enough.

I've seem some "Zoe shots", and reluctantly admin this is an interesting feature. Read a lot about what this is in all the reviews and thought so what. The actual results are not bad given it's one click to make them. Probably something other phones or apps will mimic in same way.
