Do you really want to watch that many movies on a small screen?

My Dad is the sort of person who will dish out 5x as much money for a 55" inch TV over a 50" model, just to have a bigger screen. But when it came to switching from the Retina iPad to the iPad mini he had no trouble with that and absolutely loves the smaller iPad. Even I was surprised... :)

Even on a 17 inch laptop, it's not the best way to watch movies.

I can understand watching a couple on a long flight and on holiday but needing to load more than half a dozen so you need sd cards on top of the built in storage?

If I've got an un-jetlag friendly long flight, I can watch a half a dozen (or a half-season of TV) on one flight.

(The last time I did - a daytime LHR-HKG flight - I made a mistake of not checking the ratings before loading the card. "High School of the Dead" is awesome, but the copious violence and cheesecake shots/fan-service makes it inappropriate for airplanes, even if there's no actual nudity.)

I have a few movies loaded on my iPad 3 but have yet to watch them, because I'm either watching the movies on the IFE or sleeping on international flights.

If you can keep your eyes open all through flights of 10 hours or more, more power to you.

Just depends on the flight's time of day, and how uncomfortable the seat is. I'm a pretty good sleeper in Y, but there are some Y seats where sleep is a lost cause for me, and I'd imagine for almost anybody.

Well, I had a good play with one the other day and sad to say, the mini is not for me. I need +2 reading glasses and have a habit of forgetting them and my bifocals. I couldn't read anything on the mini. Yes, I know I can enlarge text but then I would scroll around like a maniac. Sad. I so wished it would be for me.

I'll hold out until he next ipad which is rumored to be a slimmed down version.

Have both and use the Mini with aviation Apps in the cockpit when flying and the iPad for most everything else. The iPad is too big in the cockpit of the GA airplanes I fly but the Mini fits very nicely.

Cheers

So my iPad Mini broke... well when I said broke I mean I managed to smash the screen. I bought it in america when on vacation last December so given its roughly £40 cheaper to have the out of warranty replacement I'm waiting until then.

I have to admit that I don't miss it. Back comes the Kindle Paperwhite which happens to share the same charger as my blackberry (one less cable dance :D).

The reason I don't miss it is simply it allowed me to do too much. How crazy does that sound? I found I filled my spare time with empty tasks rather than actually reading like I would usually... now I have the Kindle again I now do more reading again. :D
