In Europe 4G = LTE.

I'm looking for a SIM mostly for DATA coming up in July. Probably want something like 2GB for the two weeks. Will use only in iphone 4s devices, so would need micro sims.

Is TIM the best option or is the vodaphone a better solution? Also, does anyone know of any of these providers who will ship to the USA? I need to try and get the card prior to arrival.

TIM generally has the best network and a working LTE network in the big cities (though you need to pay extra for 4G access).

None of them will ship cards to outside the country.

You can probably get something off eBay but of course you pay for the convenience.

Otherwise, there are tons of shops and it doesn't take long to get a SIM. Just need to have your ID though.

Is there any distinction w/ needing a SIM in Sicily verses the mainland? Probably a dumb question, but rather be safe than sorry, and being that I have a long connection at FCO, wouldn't mind grabbing a SIM there.

TIM cards can be picked up at FCO, no?

Yes, I was able to during a layover at FCO on the way to PMO.

There is a TIM shop and a Vodaphone shop IIRC.

TIM generally has the best network but some smaller places like Seliunte the signal was marginal.

Was great when I drove from near Palermo towards Seliunte though.

Catania will be my home base for 9 days. A few days in Taormina and/or Palermo....basically a Sicilian road trip to visit family.

TIM seems like the way to go...

You can certainly save money on Wind. But I think the difference will be 5 or 10 Euro.

Wind

Yes, Wind seems pretty inexpensive compared to the others. Anyone know anything about availability in Milan airport for SIM cards?

Because they even don't have LTE service.

Do you have a device which supports the LTE bands used in Europe?

Don't believe it does.

The latest iPads do though.
