LibreOffice or OpenOffice for Win 8?

My parents are currently using OO on their Win Vista desktop that is getting replaced with a Win 8 machine.

With Oracle's mismanagement of OO, many OO developers left to start LO. Now that OO got spun off, it might start moving forward again, but LO seems to have all the work being done on it.

Anyone used both and preferred one over the other? They don't really need Office since all they do is simple word processing.

At this moment, I prefer LibreOffice.

LibreOffice

I also prefer LibreOffice.

If all of the desktop program functionality is not needed, consider an online spreadsheet such as Google's online spreadsheet. https://drive.google.com/templates?t...dsheets&pli=1#

Libre Office - runs smoother

Thanks everyone - I installed Libre. It seems to have more people working on it and getting updates quicker and for the reasons everyone mentioned as well.
