Is Passbook Available With No Internet Connection?

Hi All,

Wasn't sure where to post this, moderators please move to the AA iPhone app - questions and issues (consolidated) thread if appropriate?

I was just wondering if Apple Passbook still works without a data connection, I will have internet to download the passes but not once I get to the airport as data roaming is ridiculously expensive?

Has anyone had any experience of this?

Thanks :)

That's the magic of passbook. Once you save the BP to passbook, it is stored locally in passbook.

As a follow-up, do the boarding passes in Passbook get updated if there are any changes? For example, if the flight is delayed, or there is a gate change?

Yes, available anytime your iPhone is on. However, you will not be able to update your passbook contents (for AA boarding passes this would be something like a gate change or updated departure time).

Thought so, thanks :)

Just wanted to check so I don't end up without a boarding pass!

Actually since this question isn't really specific to AA (or any airline for that matter), I've moved it to the Travel Technology forum where it can be discussed by interested folks from all groups.

Other than AA, what other airlines support passbook?

Air Canada does, for one.

AA, AC, CZ, DD, LH and UA supports passbook if my appshopper search is correct.
Here's the link for the list of passbook compatible travel apps.

With these airlines, will you need to use their iPhone apps to OLCI in order to get a Passbook boarding pass instead of the normal paperless boarding pass?

UA was the first one announced by Apple, during the intro video for this App.
