iOS 6 passbook
I know there is a separate thread for iOS6, but I wanted to create a single thread to share thoughts on Apple's recently released passbook. So far, I'm not sure I'm impressed. Going to the app pushes me to itunes and then to United for example. Seems like a ton of steps. Other thoughts?

Go to united > add boarding pass to passbook. Done.
|
so you do that when you actually check-in online? I'd like to be able to go to passbook and see everything related to my United existence at once without having to toggle 3 steps.
|
You'll only see the boarding passes for already checked-in flights.
|
I'm waiting for Jetblue and Frontier to offer Passbook options as I haven't had occasion to use AA/United yet, but the idea of not having to print out my boarding passes is an extremely alluring one. Really look forward to seeing how Passbook will be utilized by my favorite travel brands down the road.

Taken from their What's New: What's New in Version 1.0.22 - iPhone 5 Support - Passbook Support and iOS6 Updates Once you’ve updated to iOS6, you will be able to add your mobile boarding pass to the Passbook. To add your mobile boarding pass to Passbook, you have to check-in through the United Mobile App and select the “Add to Passbook” button on the mobile boarding pass screen. Then select “Add” on the image that comes up and your passes will automatically be added to Passbook. You must be offered the mobile boarding pass option in the app in order to add them to Passbook. |

You use the United app to get the mobile BP as before. The mobile BP has an "add to passbook" button. -David |

Tried using it this weekend with a big fail. It is too new!
I believe I can only see my already used boarding passes |

I fly standby and it works perfectly for me. Updates with my seat, I walk on the plane. No more dealing with paper passes.

I want to care about passbook but... I just... can't get... there...

I'm confused. So you need the United app to push your BP to PassBook, but the United app can already show your BP? So why does this need a separate app (PassBook)? What's wrong with just using the United app on its own to both check in AND display your BP?

How is this any better than the in-app experience of the Delta boarding pass? Or are we just talking about airlines that don't feature those?
