Klipsch Mode M40

I received an early pair of the new Klipsch Mode M40 noise canceling headsets. They are now just finding their way into Brookstone stores and B&H is slated to have them in stock later this month. While a little heavy they have "dual" drivers and really produce beautiful sounds. The noise canceling is excellent even in the passive mode. The headset is iPhone compatible and allows you to pause and skip forward/backward with a certain click. I'd suggest trying them out at a local Brookstone as they have them on display now.

They are going up against Bose and Dr dre beats. I find the Beats too oriented to bass and that doesn't work for me on a 14 hour flight. The Bose to me is becoming the "tumi" standard. As one who likes to go against the mainstream to find a better alternative...i think the M40 is it.

FYI Dr Dre has separated from its partnership with Monster cable so i'm not fully sure what the lines have planned in the coming months.

So after a few months of wear and 80K miles flown i thought it was time to do an update on this headset.

The good. The headset produces AMAZING sound! After the break in it just improved. Dual drivers make all the difference.

The Bad They are HEAVY after a few hours of wearing them inflight. They produce pressure points on long flights that make them rather uncomfortable after 5+ hours in flight. I have since reverted to my Bose QC15's for long distance flights. The sound on the Bose is not as good as the M40's but the trade off in pain free ears is worth it.
