zerofone, is anyone using this App ?
 

Heard a radio interview (in Canada) of a new app that uses wifi signal to access the web so you can do Voip from your cell (mobile) or Ipad. Apparently low fees and no need to purchase SIM's when one travels. Web site at zerofone.com

I'd say with over 20k d/l`s someone is bound to be using it.
IMHO its just app # 45465-094-545 in the VoIP app battle. All VoIP apps work Wifi and some will also use Cellular Data, nothing new there.
Seems Skype and Google voice are pretty popular on cell phones.

Nettalk has apps for most smartphones that allow their users to have free WiFi calls in the US. It's free calling to US/Canada and cheap calling international numbers, wherever you may be.

I have tried a dozen of these apps and Zerofone is the one that works best. Crystal clear call quality and reasonable rates. Save yourself some time (and dropped calls) and check it out.

I have a bunch of apps on my phone that can do that. I think for most people a Google Voice free account plus Talk-a-Tone is a great deal. Free calls, inbound bound number, and unlimited text messages.

For Canadians, the options are a little more limited. I have yet to find a Canadian app whose number and send/receive text messages. Even finding Canadian DIDs at a reasonable rate is sometimes a challenge.

I'm a Talkatone user - and a happy one (although voice quality can sometimes be hit or miss on wifi. Don't even try 3G). Talkatone will not do international texts, just within the US/Canada, so if you need to text with a small group of people while abroad, use Whatsapp.

Have you been able to get Talkatone to reach the Google Voice servers while on wifi hotspots abroad? I read elsewhere that Google Voice servers will sometimes reject connections from global IP ranges.
