Adding Truphone SIM # to Google Voice?
 

Greetings all,

I just received and activated my new Tru SIM and it works fine to place and receive calls at that number.

I want to add it to my Google Voice account for various reasons, but I can't complete the authentication process in GV to add the phone number of the Tru SIM to my account.

I start the process to verify (using the 2-digit code) and when GV calls my Tru SIM number, the phone rings for less than a second and hangs up before I can hear the greeting from GV to enter the verification code.

Has anyone else had this issue? Are there any known fixes? Tru support was useless, and support for GV (as most know) is non-existent.

No experience with Truphone but Google Voice has an option to block spam. Check to make sure its off.

I checked on that, but I don't see it as blocked. I am going to try expressly adding that Tru SIM number as a contact temporarily to see if it makes a difference, but I doubt it will. Thanks for the tip though.

Anyone else with experience on this?

No, never was able to get it added to my GV account.

As far as tech support for GV, there really is none for Google. Just the forums and no response there.

As far as tech support @ Truphone, they responded with the typical boilerplate of "we are not necessarily compatible with all VoIP providers, blah blah blah".

I realize it isn't truphone's issue to fix, but it is frustrating. Every time I try it, the phone with the TruPhone SIM rings for less than a second during the GV confirmation call and I can never answer it fast enough.

I activated my Truphone SIM just fine. I didn't need to do this, but could you all forward the number to a landline and grab the verification code that way.
