Need iPad2 Case

Bit the bullet and bought an iPad2 yesterday. First Apple product for me. Never had an iPod or iPhone.

Now I need a case for it and need advice from the experts. I travel 50% of time and need good quality that is not insanely expensive.

Thanks,

There are lots of companies which carry iPad cases, but one that comes to mind immediately is Brenthaven.

I'm not saying they're better or worse than anyone else, but I have a few of their products (including a sleeve and 5-in-1 case for the original iPad, and their ProFlight bag) and I like them.

I have had the Toblino 2 Leather Case (purchased from Amazon for $40) which I really like. It protects the entire iPad, works with the magnets to automatically turn on/off when opened/closed, folds out in 3 positions (if you don't rest the iPad in the grooves it rests at a slight angle due to the leather's natural tightness, good for typing), and the iPad slides out easily enough if you want to use the iPad "naked" (it does make a difference in weight). It looks professional enough (not flash or anything) and has been very sturdy.

Only grips are that there isn't a good way to prop the iPad up in portrait mode and the camera hole is kind of pointless since it gets blocked when you flip the case backward, though you can hold the case out to the side and it'll work and I rarely use the back facing camera anyway.

I have the Bear Motion case, which is a well made leather folio-style model. It activates the sleep function similarly to others. It's not as easy to remove the iPad from it as other cases (there's a velcro band that wraps under the iPad on the spine side of the case. It has holes in all the right places to access iPad buttons, cameras, and the speaker.

What it doesn't do, though, is protect the corners of the iPad. The edges are protected for the most part, but the corners aren't. It hasn't proven to be a practical issue in the week or so I've used it, but I'm concerned I might bang the ipad into something hard, or drop it on a cement floor, and scar it. I might pick up one of those polyurethane snap-on backs for the iPad; I believe it will still fit in case with that attached.

I also have the Bear Motion case, highly recommended. One of the best covers for the iPad 2.

i like the stm skinny. not the best protection but only adds a little bulk in a folio-style case and protects the corners.

I have one of the Apple covers and usually that is all I use if I am carrying it in a briefcase with a place for a notebook for instance. If not, I have cases from SFBags. I have had their cases for a number of computers over the years and they are first rate.

I have this one for the iPad with its cover on, although I originally got it for my iPad 1 which is bigger. They make a very similar one for iPad 2s

And this one for the iPad with cover and a Bluetooth keyboard.
