Trans-Atlantic Power?
Hello,
I'll be traveling on US Airways flights 706 and 703 to Germany this summer and I'm wondering what the power situation is on these planes. I've checked seatguru.com and found the equipment (A330-200 and A330-300) and it suggests 'EmPower' on the A330-300 will be available. It also says that these power ports "may be removed" on some aircraft. What are the chance of me actually getting a power port in coach on the A330-300? Can anyone recommend an adapter for my iPad? Thank you! |
Check eBay for cheap adapters. They usually ship from China and take 14-21 business days to arrive.
You can also look into those portable battery pack devices that can power up cell phones, or other small electronics. By the way, how do you watch video on the iPad? They really should have included a kickstand built in to the back like some larger smartphones have. |

And now for something completely different, back to your original question.
I am reasonably certain that you will not have power in coach on USAIRWAYS. You may still have a power port connector at your seat, but do not expect it to give you power. Now maybe on a 330-200, I hope for your sake that I am wrong. But across the pond flights are short enough that a IPAD should make it, I would expect. Also, you need to buy a special adapter to work with the EM Power. Apple has a airplane plug kit for MAC notebooks. This cable provides power but does not charge. I do not know if they have the same for IPAD. Good Luck, and have fun. |
I have this power inverter, although it's pricey and I got it through work.
http://www.amazon.com/CODi-Power-Inv...sr=1-2-catcorr The 12V plug comes off to reveal an empower plug. Allows you to just plug in your electronics directly so you don't have to worry about a separate adapter. Several other options on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Targus-APV12US.../dp/B000MUSP50 http://www.amazon.com/Targus-Watt-Sl...p_ob_e_title_2 http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-K38...p_ob_e_title_0 If you already have a DC inverter, you can always just get an empower adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Targus-APC02US.../ref=pd_cp_e_1 |
Thanks for the responses... I guess I'll pick up an adapter just in case I do have power.
As for the iPad 'kick-stand' question, I have this case here. Highly recommended. |
