Recommend a laser that handles envelopes well

I have a Canon ImageCLASS MF5770 that absolutely sux at envelopes. I have to hand-feed it envelopes, one at a time, and keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't chew one up, twist it such that addresses print uphill or downhill, or lock up completely and start beeping at me.

My needs are modest. I only print 20 or so envelopes a week, but it's usually so painful on my Canon, I route them to my wife's ancient low-end Samsung laser. This also takes forever, as I have to boot her machine (she works elsewhere), remove paper, stack envelopes (no more than 5 at a time or it won't feed), wait for nearly a minute for each one, and move constantly between two rooms.

Years ago I had a LaserJet 4 that worked fine, but I've not been all that enchanted with current HP offerings. I would gladly purchase one, though, if I knew it handled envelopes well.

Not much on the web in the way of printer reviews that mention envelope handling. So, any recommendations?

Have you considered a label printer instead? I stopped using my printer for envelopes and purchased a Dymo Twin printer instead. You can even purchase electronic stamp labels to print your postage and address labels at the same time.

The two we use at the office are very good at printing envelopes and there is no need to remove the paper; HP LaserJet P4010_P4510 Series PCL 6 and HP Color LaserJet CP4520 Series PCL6.

Thanks - have a Dymo, but not for these envelopes. I have more invested in the letterhead and envelopes than in all my printers put together. Very stylish, for a special purpose, and I can't imagine a label on them.

Thanks. I'll check them out.

You might consider using a service instead, like L-Mail, EScargo, or EZgram.

If you go that route, it's the ultimate convenience.. you just email or upload the document, and the mailing service will print it using a printserver that is geographically close to the destination (IOW, it's better for the planet than mailing from where you are, and obviously quicker).

We have an HP 4515 in the office which handles envelopes with ease (even without the optional feeder). Indeed, they print on pretty much everything from regular paper to small card stock to envelopes without an issue.

All my HP laserjets have handled envelopes well. Currently using a 5200, which is probably a dinosaur but will use it until it dies.

Currently my workgroup printer, an HP LaserJet P3015dn, handles envelopes with aplomb.

I don't know for sure, but I've been told that this laser handles all paper products extremely well.

Just point it at your envelope, click the button, and FWOOSH! No more pesky envelope.

Of course, cleaning up the ashes afterward can be a little messy.

I have a feeling that the old printers work much better then the new ones.
