Google Flight Search

I don't know if this is actually "new", but a google PR about searching for flights just hit my inbox.

If you google

flight xxx xxx (as in flight ord lhr)

you get a result showing you the flight schedule. Not tons of information and I'm frankly not sure how much this limited information helps a traveler, but it IS quick and I can see using it as a way to quickly find out how to get somewhere without bothering with a full-fledged web-site.

I'd still go to ITA for many things, but if I just want to quickly know if an itin is even possible I can see some utility.

Oh: this is sort of cool. After you've done your first search (I did ord lax) you will see the list of non-stop flights, and then on the bottom are two links, one for "all non-stop flights from ORD" and the second for "all non-stop flights to LAX". I've never found any other way to get such a quick comprehensive list.

Cool - FLIGHTS TO XXX provides similar results.

I believe they just brought it live in the last week.

According to the Google notice on it, it is not yet using the ITA engine

It is of course only a matter of time before they hook it up with their ITA software and make it a full pricing search.

Kind of neat. Obviously very limited in scope. I hope once Google gets into ITA they really boost the searching ability to show you all valid routings and times. ITA, especially on more complicated itineraries really only shows a limited number that is somehow maxed out.

What Google actually has now really reminds me a feature on the Bloomberg terminals my boss once showed me that let you do look at timetables on there, though even that was more robust.
