Anyone using the NetTalk DUO for VOIP?
There is a lot to like about the NetTalk Duo, in addition to the initial $69,95 first year, $29.95 second year pricing, with unlimited US/Canada calling:
1. You can use it at home without connecting it to a computer. 2. You can use it with your computer while traveling. 3. You can download an app for all the major platforms and use the VOIP service on you cell phone. 4. Voicemail can be sent to Email. 5. Claims to be fax-friendly. I know that many of these features are available on other VOIP providers, but this is a very attractive price. My Viatalk service (which has been satisfactory) is up for renewal soon and I am always willing to consider cheaper alternatives. Anyone used the NetTalk Duo? |
interested myself - is this basically a snazzier magicjack that lets you port your phone number?

Just got one here for a review, so far so good. Web interface seems pretty basic, but everything else looks great.

monoflight, the biggest difference is that, unlike MagicJack, you don't need a PC to make this work. You plug an Internet cable into the Duo and a standard phone into the Duo and you have a working phone. In most cases, it doesn't matter where the Internet connection is, it still answers to it's home phone number, with no charges. NetTalk isn't unique in this regard, it just looks to be very reasonably priced. |
We've had Vonage for years, and it works just fine. I added Duo at our vacation home in January, and I can't tell the difference between it and Vonage. Will probably cancel Vonage when we get home and get another Duo. Basically it just works.
