Imagine if you are in a place where you cannot access certain things (like China and gmail). So you send an email to a friend in the US, asking them to check your email and get it back to you.
Except vpn means a computer does it for you.

You're right, many explicitly prohibit torrentz. Fortunately, thanks for everyone here, I found there are also several very good ones that do allow it....
