Fancast in Germany?

Fancast in Germany?
I travel to Germany quite a bit and am looking for an English TV option via internet while I'm there. I spoke with my cable provider (Comcast) and was told that I could watch Fancast from my computer. They didn't know if it would work in Germany. I'm guesssing it won't since all of the other services I've tried don't work there. I understand I can get a personal VPN but before I start jumping through hoops I wanted to see if there's a simple solution. Anyone out there know if Fancast works in Germany or elsewhere in Europe? Also, anyone have experience using a Slingbox overseas? Wondering if the video transfer is slow. Usually stay at Marriotts with slow internet connections.
