VPNs for privacy on a Mac

Are you using a VPN for privacy and against unwanted parties from intruding on what you are doing?

I am not and I am looking to. How easy is OpenVPN to implement on a Mac?

Thanks!

os x has vpn built in already, both on macs and iphones/ipads. setting it up can be a little tricky, but once it's set up it's very easy to use.

I subcribe to StrongVPN's OpenVPN service. When I'm on the road and not connected through an OpenVPN router, I use Tunnelblick for OS X (free): http://code.google.com/p/tunnelblick/

You still need someone to connect your VPN to. All modern operating systems have built-in VPN support.

I dont always use it but we have a VPN set up at work to allow access to internal sites. I use a Cisco client on my Macbook to access that and the internal clients on my iPad and iPhone.

Use OpenVPN with connection tunneling for privacy reasons. Also, allows a workaround when behind "the great firewall.." Cannot comment on how easy it is to setup / maintain -- rent access online on a per-month basis.

I have been using witopia, think it's great. The program they use is called Viscosity (on Mac).

I use hotspotvpn.com when I travel, works well, cheap and works for smartphones as well.

I use iVPN to host my VPN from my home Mac server and the built in VPN on my MacBook Pro and other Apple devices. It works very well and is somewhat easy to set up.

Performance is acceptable?

Traffic is going through your home server so you need good upload bandwidth at home.

I use OS X's built-in VPN client to connect when I need access to local resources or whenever I am on a public wireless network. Same goes for the iPad.

iVPN works as a great server, performance is fine over a ~512 upload.

my desktop mac at home is my vpn server. setting it up as a server with standard os x was a little tricky. it's a lot easier with os x server but that's not required.

i also have an ipsec vpn router i've been using for years but that doesn't help me with iphones (only cisco is supported for some reason) so i switched to l2tp and the mac.
